time flies...
One of my favorite things about being a Dietetic Intern and working in the hospital is encountering new cases and new patients every day. There is always something new to be learned. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with the rest of the medical team and collaborating with them in our care plan for the pt. Today I was going to see a pt with inadequate PO intake due to loss of appetite from some of her meds and procedures etc., and was going to need to calculate her energy/prot/kcal needs so I asked the pt's nurse about the pressure ulcer noted in the chart (the R.D.'s and nurses here at Moore have a good relationship and often check in with each other/offer feedback on the pt's status), after a brief discussion, I went in the room to talk with the pt and returned to the nurses station to complete my assessment and plan. The nurse I had spoken with earlier approached me and asked me if I had already gone in to see the pt because she had said the pt didn't remember getting her wounds cleaned. I was taken aback for a second, then said, "Oh, I'm the Dietetic Intern..!" she laughed and said she thought I was the new wound care nurse! Ha! In light of Bridget and Christina's recent posts, I have to say: I too will NEVER hold such a job.
