CRMC update

This has been an interesting week for me.  The dietitians now have me doing most of the diabetic educations that they get.  Today I actually had a nurse tell me that when I talked to her patient about portion sizes and carbohydrates he was more receptive during our conversation than she had seen him during the entire time he'd been there. I have gotten really comfortable doing these diet instructions and hopefully they will start me doing some different kinds of patients soon.

Today I went into a patient's room who has been having some trouble with wound healing.  He had an abcess drained a few days ago but has had a hard time recovering according to his chart.  Anyways, when I went to offer this man Juven (our supplement made specially for wound healing) he was really crabby toward me and asked me how it tasted and if I liked it. I was honest and told him that I hadn't tried it before. He then proceeded to snap at me and told me that I shouldn't try to sell something that I haven't tried myself. So, the dietitians, myself, and the other intern at CRMC had a big supplement taste test this afternoon. I feel kind of sick now, but it was probably something we should have done in the first few weeks I was there. From now on, I'll be more prepared when someone asks me a question about our supplements!

Hope everyone is having a good week!
