Busyness as usual

So on Tuesday I shadowed the private practice dietitian, she used to work at the hospital and about a year ago started her own business. It was SO much slower and calmer than the hospital of course, and her appointments were just like our 630 videos! I could see myself doing this kind of work, where I would get to sit down and really teach and help people. However, she said private practice, at least in Eastern NC, doesn't pay the bills and she does 3 or so jobs on the side, working at different clinics once a week and teaching an online biochemistry course at Craven Community College. So she said she still kept busy.

Today was a super busy day. I taught two cardiac rehab classes, the topic was Being Healthy while Eating out. I really loved teaching these. The second group was all guys and I was a little intimidated at first because the women usually seem more into the class but they were a great group, really humorous and turned out to know quite a bit about nutrition. It was quite enjoyable. I also counseled a patient on heart healthy eating who had recently had a CABG and one patient on weight loss, but we also reviewed diabetic diet at her request.

I also saw a modified barium swallow but the lady didn't have anything wrong really so it wasn't all that exciting...oh well! The barium puddings and juices looked super unappetizing.
