Renal rotation

I finished "renal"module last week, it was a little bit out of my expectation. I only saw one case of renal patient. I did several education on heart healthy, diabetes, low sodium, nothing directly related to renal, however, I did review the handout for patients on hemodialysis.

My patients are all on tube feeding, I have seen several different formulas, such as polymeric, monomeric, immune enhance, low electrolyte etc. I was confused and overwhelmed by different formulas, calculations, patients' status, even right now, I still just get a little bit clear. I really appreciate that my preceptor arrange several ICU rotations for me therefore, I will have a lot of opportunity to practice.

One thing I have been struggled last week-- every dietitian has different format, standard for chart writing, it has been hard for me to let everyone satisfied. In cardiac rotation, my chart writing is very good, the dietitian usually agreed with my plan, even didn't make any change. However, last week, it seems totally different, everything is not completed, not satisfied. I am kind of frustrated, and don't know how to write-- I think it is probably because tube feeding, the charts become more specific and complicated. Since this rotation is not renal, my module doesn't help me at some point. I think I will catch up this week.
