I will never be on a wound care team.

So after my experience in following the wound care nurses and my extreme luck in getting to watch a dressing change for a scrotal abcess last week, and my fabulous wound experiences today I have officially ruled out future employment on a wound care team. I don't really think it warrants any additional explanation, really, but it was definitely something I learned today.
Yesterday I had to do a diet education for a guy about the Mediterranean diet... we have one cardiologist who is just all about the omega-3s and prescribes this diet to all of his patients. I'm not sure he understands these people live in the foothills of NC... We also have several hospitalists who have taken to prescribing diabetic diets to EVERYONE they see, whether or not they have DM/have any family history of DM/are obese/have an A1c<6. This is quite annoying for the patients and for me because the patients are not happy and I have to ask the doctor to remove the restriction quite often. Today, the other intern and I worked to change this poor 6'4" 215# 80yo man's diet from 1800kcal diabetic to regular, and after about 20 minutes were able to get him a non-diabetic snack since he said he was starving. He said he was going to write a book about us titled "Interns save the day"! I love the hilarious old men.
