a month already?
Wow it's hard to believe I've been at CMC-Union for a month already. I don't have too many interesting things to report right now. Things have been a little slow lately, although I'm not sure why. We've been finishing our list of patients before lunch, so I've been seeing how a lot of background/paperwork type things happen back in the nutrition office. When we do go up to see patients though, I've gotten to where I can pretty much go down the list and see any patient on my own unless they have a tube feed or TPN. I like working somewhat independently, although the dietitians are still very good about checking behind me to make sure I cover everything. Mostly I see patients who are referred by the admission screen, who have been referred for being in the hospital >7 days, who need a follow up to ensure adequate intake, or who need education on coumadin. I did a diabetes diet ed last week, and the dietitians are always on the lookout for someone who needs a diet ed besides coumadin so that I can either shadow or give the diet ed. That's all for now! I've been enjoying reading about everybody's different experiences :)
