Joint Commission talks to Laura

Yesterday was quite a day at Mission.  The Joint Commission arrived Monday morning, so my preceptor and I have been sneaking around on the floors, hoping not to be questioned.  Amanda arrived for her visit yesterday afternoon, and the three of us were on the Neuro floor seeing our patients.  What group waltzes in, but yes, the infamous Joint Commission!  They noticed Amanda's non-Mission badge and immediately asked her who she was.  Then, I'm introduced as the dietetic intern.  Finally, Jodi, my preceptor talks to them.  The older gentleman was extremely friendly and chatty--I was just too nervous to appreciate it.  We go about our business:  I walk Amanda through seeing a patient, all the while on the other corner of the computers, the surveyors are picking through a patients' charts with this poor male RN.  On top of that, I was seeing a patient with an extensive psych history, so I was triply on edge.  I completely blanked on protein requirements--oh my.  Thankfully, I escaped that floor unscathed, and no other surveyor decided it was appropriate to chat with the dietetic intern that day.  Beware of large groups of men and women in suits!
